SUFFOLK HELP IN MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

Waveney  SHIMS

Jenny's Profile

My name is Jenny and I am twenty-nine years old. I am married with two children aged 3 and 6. I was diagnosed with MS in June 2006 and I have never been so scared and shocked in my life. Then I was told about SHIMS by two different people, my best friend, whose Auntie's got MS (Linda Pack) and an organiser of my local Weightwatchers! So, I went along.

Here, I discovered it wasn't the end of the world, life goes on, and this was an opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, and ask hundreds and hundreds of questions!! People actually knew and understood how I was feeling.

The meetings are very good because you can learn some very interesting things in the main discussions at the beginning of the meetings, about new trials, entitlements, other related groups and all sorts of information. Then, if you wish, you can join in with exercises or relaxation methods which may help with symptoms or just state of mind, or you can sit down and have a coffee and a chat.

I have only joined recently so I haven't been on any of the outings they organise, but they sound like good fun and I'm looking forward to the Christmas dinner and seeing Ricky in his Christmas hat.
